Michael Heitz
Born and raised in Madison, IN, attended Pope John XIII Grade School and Shawe High School, he went off to University of Louisville in the late 1970s. He studied photography, French and Art History, culminating in a bachelor’s degree in humanities.
He had a 35 year career as a professional photographer, owning a wedding/portrait studio in downtown Madison for over 20 years. He only become an educator of the French language in the 2010-2011 school year. This academic year marks his ninth as a high school teacher.
Monsieur Heitz owns a small house on the riverside which he renovated himself. After his last best cat died, he swore off pets. But he is the owner of a 1958 Chris-Craft cabin cruiser and a 1976 Aristo-Craft ski boat, which take up more time than pets.
For the 2018-19 school year, Monsieur is actually teaching a photo 1 course. With 23 students for first semester, Monsieur is trying to explain the concepts of photography while trying to speak English. It's difficult.
You will find examples of his students’ work displayed under the education tab.
